Jorge E. Cañellas

Jorge Cañellas started his career in public accounting in 2003. He has served a broad range of global public multinational clients across the financial services, telecommunications and manufacturing industries, including property and casualty and life insurance companies, retail, commercial and investment banks, asset management, payment processors, broker and dealers, stock exchanges and FinTechs.  

Experience:

• Financial statement and internal control audits, as well as accounting consulting services, for large multinational domestic and foreign private issuers under the auditing standards of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) in New York City, Mexico City and Puerto Rico, in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP).
• Extensive experience in the review of public company annual reports (Forms 20-F and 10-K) and in the completion of successful capital markets transactions, including initial public offerings and domestic and cross-border debt and equity offerings, all under the rules of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
• Accounting consultations on the implementation of new accounting pronouncements, including the allowance for loan and lease losses; valuation of structured fixed income and derivative financial instruments; stock-based compensation; transfers of financial assets; and evaluation of impairment of intangible assets.
• Execution of SEC quarterly reviews and evaluation of internal control over financial reporting under Section 404 of the Sarbanes–Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX 404).

• Head of Insurance Practice – Leads the firm’s insurance industry practice, serving insurance companies and related financial services clients.
• PCAOB Matters Leader – Leads the firm’s efforts on matters related to the standards and requirements of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB).
• Risk Management Leader – Leads the firm’s risk management function.
